Description
The Telemark Canal is located in the Telemark region. It is 105 km long. After five years hard labor of more than 500 people, the canal was opened in 1892. A series of 8 locks overcomes the difference in altitude of 72 m. In many places the canal runs through existing lakes. It is the only channel in Norway, that ends in the in North Sea. |
