Description
North Koster (Nordkoster) is one of the most northernmost islands of the west coast archipelago of Bohuslän. The northern coast offers unspoilt rugged nature with granite rocks and small sandy beaches inbetween. Fishing villages, who gets crowded by visitors in the summertime, are found at the more sheltered places. Nordkoster is a small island and a nature reserve. It belongs to the Koster Islands west of the little town Strömstad. No cars are allowed on Nordkoster and the nature varies from windy, rocky shores to calm meadows and beaches. You will find seals, red deer, foxes, badgers and plentiful of birdlife here. nordkoster also offers interesting botanical sites. The small harbour is very popular with sailers in the summer and offers a few restaurants. There is also a basic tentground and some cabins for rent. It´sa unique and very beautiful place and I hope that someday you will be able to enjoy Nordkoster. |
