Description
Røros is a mining town in eastern Norway. The look of Røros is particularly characterised by the old wooden houses next to the slag heaps. This is the place where musicians play their fiddle and dancers move their feet and dance through the old streets. Rørospols is a traditional dance from the Røros area. Among Scandinavian customs is a widespread tradition of folk dancing: dances of historical importance, typical in European culture and history. Since 1980 Røros mining town has been placed on the world heritage list because of its exceptional and unique value. The 26-part tv-series HERITAGE SITES of the WORLD is a Fauna Film production.
