Description
KARLSHAMN is an urban center and in Karlshamn is where Mieån flows into the Baltic Sea and has one of Sweden's largest, deepest and largest ports. The city criss-crossed by E22: use and the railway between Kristianstad and Karlskrona. Gander was originally a Danish hamnort named Bodekull. King Karl X Gustav built here because of a city its position towards the Baltic Sea and the small island Frisholmen in the city's entrances which became castles, and worked as a defense. 1664 was the place city privileges in 1666 and named after the city's founder. The city grew but lived partly in the shadow of Karlskrona. 1800s, however, meant a huge boost for the city, with many immigrants German merchants and increased shipping and trade. During the 1800s construction of two railways to the city, Blekinge Banana and Gander-Vislanda which was a narrow track 1067mm orbit. Even the last track was narrow-track, but was built in the 1950s to a normal track. In addition the railway station was moved to a new location on the outskirts of the city center, BLASTED at Money Hill.
